I did it. I took the Dive. I bought a Mac.

After seeing that in a zillion years I could never afford the MacPro with Xeon processors, I settled on a 20 inch iMac with 2 gigs of ram, a 250 gig HD, And a superdrive. That Hd, I plan to partition and load XP on the other half. That’s half the battle.

First, I must take my Pre-SP2 copy of XP-Pro and slipstream service pack 2 on to it. Then burn it to a CD. Then try and install iit with BootCamp.

I feel the weight of the $1600 on me like a rock. I just need to take this new hardware and work some extra jobs.

Question for Mac heads. I did not buy the AppleCare plan.. I have 1 year until the default waranty runts out. Is it really worth it? Should I buy that 3 years that will cost like $300 to cover the hardware and display?

Welcome back Mac.

My PC has shit the bed one more time. The hardware is so fucked I don’t even know where to begin. So I’ve decided to buy a new one.

Until then, I pulled the old G3 macintosh out of the closet to do the computer duties in it’s place.

I miss the OS X interface. This G3 would be my full time computer, but it does not seem to handel the load of Jaguar and Photoshop and all my other stuff with the amound of HD space and RAM I have in it.

I’d like to buy a new Mac, but I am not too sure on how all my files will do if I were to try and transfer them over from a PC.

Any ideas? Would an Intel based Mac w/ “boot camp” (run XP and OS X) be a good option?

Flood (Continued)
on 16/04/2007 - like it?

Continuing from my previous post this morning, the flood waters are still rising. Hearing that this town was in a state of emergency, I left work early. I didn’t need them to close all the roads and leave me stranded in Salisbury.

So I took some photos along the way. These are all in the Amenia/Wassaic Area.

Most of the area is under water. Schools have closed and roads are under water.

Because I left for work rather early this morning, I did not get a chance to take any photos of the rising waters.

So instead, I will share photos I took of the flood that occured back in October of 2005. It’s pretty much just as bad.

Imus gets the Axe
on 13/04/2007 - like it?

Shortly after MSNC announced that they would no longer syndicate a TV feed of Imus In the Morning, CBS radio dropped him like a sack of bricks.

The furry is widespread. See my previous post about how a local radio DJ (and one that I grew up listening to) was fired for making a joke about the comments.

I’d like to turn your attention to an article by a black writer for the Kansas City Star.
Jason Whitlock wrote:

“In the grand scheme, Don Imus is no threat to us in general and no threat to black women in particular. If his words are so powerful and so destructive and must be rebuked so forcefully, then what should we do about the idiot rappers on BET, MTV and every black-owned radio station in the country who use words much more powerful and much more destructive?

I don’t listen or watch Imus’ show regularly. Has he at any point glorified selling crack cocaine to black women? Has he celebrated black men shooting each other randomly? Has he suggested in any way that it’s cool to be a baby-daddy rather than a husband and a parent? Does he tell his listeners that they’re suckers for pursuing education and that they’re selling out their race if they do?

When Imus does any of that, call me and I’ll get upset. Until then, he is what he is — a washed-up shock jock who is very easy to ignore when you’re not looking to be made a victim.”

It’s astonishing that these radio personalities would have so much power, that the use of these mere words [and they are just words. no matter how hateful or horrible] would steal away someone’s hopes and dreams.
